Alexandra Jefford

The creative mind behind Kasmira's Moon

Alexandra Jefford is a talented London-based artist whose unique pieces of jewellery play with shapes, texture and colour to embody the abstract qualities of her artwork.

Born and raised in Geneva, Alexandra studied fine art at Central St Martins in London concentrating on etching and drawing. She first pursued a career as an artist and illustrator before turning to jewellery in 2002 after studying jewellery design at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), and Gemology at the Gemological Association of Great Britain (GEM-A).

Alexandra's main approach is to create a more accessible art form while staying true to her roots in fine art.

Kasmira's Moon

The journey to Kasmira’s Moon talismans began while Jefford was a fine-art student at Central St. Martin’s, where she produced an illustrated small-edition fairytale about a princess named Kasmira – after her niece.

The book, which grew from the artist-designer’s interest in philosophy, spirituality and mythology, featured etchings of dragons, birds and other magical figures.

Jefford later shared Kasmira’s world with her children as bedtime stories.

Mythology has always been subtly present in my jewellery design,

But, I have felt a growing need to make this aspect a story of its own with a distinct identity,

so I have created a world where you use your heart, not just your eyes. Jewellery is, after all, a form of alchemy.
